Delivery Excellence (DE) is VMware's brand for our Program Management Organization (PMO). The America's Delivery Excellence Practice leads numerous and simultaneous IT programs supporting customer critical business initiatives across Enterprise, Global, Commercial, HealthCare, State and Local government, and K-12 and Higher Ed education organizations. The DE practice drives the customer success and outcomes of services engagements through the leadership, management and evolution of premier delivery methodologies of VMware solutions The practice is responsible for, customer outcome realization associated with VMware products involved in services engagements, AMER's PSO revenue, margin, and customer satisfaction. This is accomplished by executing programs encompassing customer outcome and vision relevance, simplicity and scalability by integrating People ? Process ? Technology through program planning, operational standardization, execution, and process optimization. The DE Practice establishes, and measures targeted service metrics that ensure continuous improvement of Program and Project Management methods and capabilities, providing quality customer experience and increased mission value.
Job Summary:
Practice Director: Delivery Excellence
The DE Practice Director will collaborate with the Senior Director, Services Sales, Core Sales, Technical practice solution leaders, Customers and other VMware organizations. You will have full responsibility for Program and Project Managers within our State, Local Government, and Education (SLED) DE Practice and for the management and growth of the services business and subsequently the broader organization. You are closely aligned with our license and services sales teams and work with VMware America's Program organizations, and sales teams, to define and deliver solutions based on evolving VMware products using industry standard delivery methods and processes to achieve our customer's objectives. You will set clear objectives for personnel, develop creative practices providing thought leadership in the organization, and execute "go to market" strategies and programs that drive revenue growth, customer penetration and project profitability. You will lead revenue forecasting for the Consulting organization, handle backlog delivery, establish and run partner relationships, and be responsible for customer satisfaction. As a leader, you will work directly with your team to enable them and develop competencies to ensure successful engagements, maintain high customer satisfaction, and drive consistency to key operational and financial delivery metrics.
Job Responsibilities:
Business management (revenue and margin), personnel management (hiring, development, and utilization) and customer satisfaction.
Drive Services consulting revenue to meet and exceed target goals while adhering to fiscal responsibilities for the Delivery Excellence practice and PSO organization stabilizing both client and VMware objectives.
Direct development, coordinate planning and lead execution of many simultaneous programs and projects, some exceeding multi-million-dollar value.
Ensure compliance with Federal laws and guidelines including but not limited to acquisition, program/project reporting, cost controls, and staffing. Includes aligning and executing VMware program/project management methodologies and reporting with customer and/or Prime Contractor reporting requirements.
Support pre-sales efforts with services sales, Project Delivery Managers, and Consulting Architects to understand customer business and technical objectives and product requirements, in order to build client relationships, scope opportunities, and deliver effective solutions.
Recruit, manage, mentor, and expertly develop premier Delivery Excellence professionals by defining enablement plans for the Delivery Excellence Program / Project Managers. Support the on-boarding of new employees and continued enablement (soft and technical skills) of existing employees, including VMware and contractor project managers.
Develop and direct enablement plans so DE staff are capable in program management methods for software-based engagements, including Agile, TOGAF and others.
Provide management oversight and an escalation path to customer relationships and delivery oversight while field teams are working through obstacles and ensuring successful and profitable services engagements.
Take a leadership role in transforming, building and running a best-in-class Delivery Excellence organization.
Align closely with regional field teams, service partners, VMware Global Technology Services teams, partner teams, Global Support Services, enablement teams and PSO Operations to meet VMware sales, delivery and technology objectives.
Required Skills:
15+ years of IT industry experience (compute, networking, storage, application development)
10+ years of experience in customer-facing positions as a professional services program manager, consultant or engineer, preferably with a software company consulting organization
10+ years planning and running $50M+ annual revenue business of large billable programs for external customers, including experience aligning professional services opportunities with technology sales teams
Exceptional skills in handling client critical issues with a consistent record of risk management
Understanding of consulting field organizations and partner ecosystems; knowledge of key business drivers that can accelerate or prevent change while driving quarterly focused organization outcomes
Strategic planning, critical thinking, and financial analysis
Good interpersonal and project management skills with an ability to handle opposing client demands
Experience with modern software development methodologies, with emphasis on software and hardware architecture, and infrastructure design and development
Experience in a dynamic, startup (or startup-like) environment and ability to thrive in a fluid environment
Effectively communicate with CxO-level personnel and navigate customer organizations for successful project delivery and acceptance
Strong communications and interpersonal skills
B.S./B.A./M.S./M.A./MBA degree required
Ability to travel 50%
Preferred Skills
PMP/ITIL/ACP/CSM/CPO/PRINCE2 or related certification(s) Strongly preferred
Experience working with State and Local government / Education budgets; budgeting and financial plan development and management

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
